INDONESIA'S ESSENTIAL OIL EXPORTS HIT 5-YEAR HIGH

Indonesia's essential oil exports reached a five-year high in 2024, totaling IDR4.2 trillion (US$259.54 million), making the country the world’s eighth-largest exporter in the sector, according to Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza. Major export destinations included India, the U.S., China, Singapore, and France. Riza emphasized the strategic value of the essential oil industry, which is rooted in non-timber forest products and aromatic plants, and connects to key sectors like agriculture, plantations, health, and beauty. Despite its success, the industry faces challenges such as limited access to sustainable raw materials, global markets, and advanced processing technologies, as well as a lack of product diversification. In response, the government is pushing for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to build a globally competitive and inclusive essential oil industry. This includes improving raw material supply, boosting production capacity and product quality, and fostering innovation in downstream product development. The establishment of the Flavor and Fragrance Center in Bali and West Sumatra is one such initiative aimed at accelerating growth and adding value to Indonesia’s biological resources.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/356393/indonesias-essential-oil-exports-hit-5-year-high?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
