VIỆT NAM URGED TO BOOST PRESENCE IN ASEAN MARKET
Despite trade potential, Việt Nam’s exports to ASEAN remain modest, growing only 3.2% year-over-year to US$12.42 billion as of mid-May 2025. To enhance its presence, Vietnamese businesses are being urged to adopt flexible market strategies and deepen regional engagement. The Trade Office in Singapore is encouraging firms to join Retail’s Big Show APAC 2025, offering exposure to regional buyers and retail trends. Singapore remains a key target, with Việt Nam now its fourth-largest seafood supplier. In Thailand—Việt Nam’s largest ASEAN export market—key products include electronics and machinery, though exports rose just 1.4%. Meanwhile, opportunities in the Philippines span agriculture, light industry, and construction materials, but logistical and market entry challenges persist. To unlock ASEAN’s potential, exporters must improve quality, branding, and compliance with local standards. Building consumer trust and shifting perceptions of Vietnamese products are critical to long-term success across the region. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
