Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng has approved the expansion of Phú Quốc International Airport, framing it as a strategic project to support the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and establish Phú Quốc as a premier global tourism hub. Emphasizing its long-term legacy, he called the expansion a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity to elevate the island’s status in Asia. The project will expand the airport’s capacity to 10 million passengers by 2030 and 18 million by 2050, increasing its area from 884ha to 1,050ha.
