INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT EYES UP TO 5.8 PERCENT ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2026
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati presented Indonesia’s 2026 macroeconomic framework and fiscal policy guidelines, projecting economic growth between 5.2% and 5.8%, slightly above 2025 estimates. Speaking to the House of Representatives, she emphasized the government's focus on maintaining household consumption, accelerating structural reforms, improving the investment climate, and advancing human capital development. The 2026 budget will be shaped by ongoing evaluations of ministries’ performance, with efficiency playing a key role in determining spending ceilings. Key priorities include boosting domestic food production—especially rice, corn, milk, and meat—through subsidies, infrastructure, and support for farmers and fishers, aiming to reduce import dependency and improve welfare. On the energy front, the government will push its transition from B40 to B50 biodiesel, backed by fiscal incentives and expanded clean energy investments. These strategies align with President Prabowo’s ambition to drive annual growth to 8% by 2029 and support Indonesia’s long-term development goals.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/4334/policy-and-governance/government-eyes-up-to-5-8-percent-economic-growth-in-2026 (ICE GIACARTA)
