VIETNAMESE BUSINESSES URGED TO TRANSFORM, COLLABORATE AMID GLOBAL TRADE SHIFTS

At the CEO Forum 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City on May 21, experts highlighted that to survive in a volatile global economy, Vietnamese businesses must transform operations, diversify exports, and boost domestic market engagement. Delegates warned of rising challenges, including trade wars, non-tariff barriers like the EU’s CBAM and UFLPA, and shrinking international demand. Speakers stressed the need for SMEs to receive timely financial support, improve compliance, and build traceability systems. Vietnam’s reliance on FDI and limited SME capacity further complicate adaptation to shifting global supply chains. Alarmingly, business closures surged in early 2025. Experts advised stronger domestic supply chain linkages, ESG adoption, digital transformation, and better use of free trade agreements. Officials also encouraged firms to tap into Vietnam’s large domestic market. The forum called for better policy feedback loops, sustainable business strategies, and public-private collaboration to help firms navigate rising global uncertainty. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
