INDONESIA-ITALY COLLABORATION TO BOOST FOOD SECURITY, MARITIME ECONOMY
Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with Italy to enhance food security and promote sustainable maritime economic growth. During a meeting with Italian Ambassador Roberto Colaminè in Jakarta, Sugiono highlighted Indonesia’s focus on the green economy, technological self-sufficiency, and national industry development. He noted that modernizing Indonesia’s fishing fleet is a key priority and that Italy’s support could significantly contribute to achieving national targets in critical sectors such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, agriculture, and infrastructure. The meeting also addressed deepening defense cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on going beyond military equipment procurement to include technology transfer, joint production, and capacity building to boost Indonesia’s defense industry independence. Sugiono underscored the mutual commitment of both nations to build beneficial partnerships at both bilateral and international levels. Italy remains Indonesia’s third-largest European trade partner, with bilateral trade reaching US$3.95 billion and Italian investment increasing by 46 percent to US$70.5 million in 2024.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/355545/indonesia-italy-collaboration-to-boost-food-security-maritime-economy?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=popular_right (ICE GIACARTA)
