INDONESIA: 4 IRRIGATION PROJECTS WORTH IDR 426 BILLION IN FOOD ESTATE AREA

The Indonesian Ministry of Public Works is preparing four new Irrigation Area (DI) projects to support the development of food estates, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s goal of achieving food self-sufficiency and water security. With a 2025 budget of IDR 426.39 billion, allocated through a multi-year contract scheme, the projects include the development of Batang Asai DI in Jambi, the rehabilitation of Cariang Dam near Ujungjaya food estate in Central Kalimantan, and the rehabilitation of both the Serayu Irrigation Area and the Jatimlerek Dam. In parallel, the government is accelerating food estate development through PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero), which is targeted to manage 425,000 hectares of land by the end of 2025.
