Kazakhstan, Shell discuss status of joint oil and gas projectsKazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with Shell President Upstream, Peter Costello, to discuss the progress of ongoing oil and gas projects and prospects of cooperation, the government’s press service reported.The meeting was also attended by Shell Vice President and Chairman in Kazakhstan, Ali Al-Janabi, and Shell Vice President Exploration, Suzanne Coogan.The talks focused particularly on the construction of a gas processing plant (GPP) at the Karachaganak field, with an annual capacity of 4 billion cubic meters. Both sides emphasized the need to accelerate the project.Additionally, they discussed development plans for the Kashagan field, including phases 2A and 2B, which involve building a new GPP with a capacity of 2.5 billion cubic meters per year and expanding new production areas.Closing the meeting, the prime minister reaffirmed the Kazakh government’s commitment to active and mutually beneficial cooperation with Shell.
