INDONESIA REVISES TRADE DATA SCHEDULE AMID CRUCIAL US TARIFF WINDOW

Indonesia’s statistics agency has postponed the release of its April trade data from May 15 to June 2, aligning it with the release of inflation data at the beginning of each month to enhance data quality. This new schedule means May trade figures will be delayed until early July, creating a longer lag in critical economic reporting. The timing of the change is significant, as it coincides with a 90-day window following the U.S. imposition of a 32% tariff on certain Indonesian products—an interval when timely trade data could be vital for assessing impacts and informing policy. Despite concerns, BCA’s chief economist David Sumual believes the delay is unlikely to affect investor sentiment in the near term, as external factors currently have a greater influence on market movements.Source: https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/international/asean/indonesia-revises-trade-data-schedule-amid-crucial-us-tariff-window (ICE GIACARTA)
