INDONESIAN GOVT: MULTIPLE PRODUCTS REQUIRE HALAL CERTIFICATION BY OCTOBER 2026
Starting October 17, 2026, cosmetic products in Indonesia must be halal certified, as mandated by Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024. The regulation also applies to medicinal products, chemical products, genetically engineered products, and consumer goods. Deputy Head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Afriansyah Noor, emphasized that halal cosmetics are increasingly important to the Indonesian public, especially Muslim consumers, who prioritize the halal label when making purchases. To prepare for the mandatory certification, BPJPH is actively conducting outreach and education for cosmetic manufacturers to raise awareness and promote transparency. Deputy Chuzaemi Abidin highlighted that these efforts aim to build consumer trust and support businesses improving product quality through halal certification. As of now, over 81,000 domestic and 7,500 foreign cosmetic products have already been certified halal.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/355309/multiple-products-require-halal-certification-by-october-2026?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
