INDONESIA INCREASES CPO EXPORT LEVY BY 10% AS OF MAY 17

Indonesia will raise its crude palm oil (CPO) export levy from 7.5% to 10% starting May 17, 2025, as part of efforts to fund its expanded biodiesel program. The new regulation also increases levies on refined palm oil products to between 4.75% and 9.5% of CPO reference prices—up by 3% to 6% from current rates. Revenue from these levies supports initiatives like biodiesel blending and smallholder replanting subsidies. Indonesia recently raised its biodiesel mix from 35% to 40% and plans to test a 50% blend by 2026, alongside a 3% jet fuel blend starting next year. To back these efforts, Indonesia's plantation funds agency will allocate $2.14 billion (35.47 trillion Rupiah) in biodiesel subsidies this year. As of April 24, the country had consumed 4.44 million kilolitres of biodiesel and aims to distribute 15.6 million KL by 2025—up from 13 million KL in 2018. As the world’s largest palm oil consumer, Indonesia is leveraging palm-based biofuels to enhance energy security and reduce fossil fuel dependence.Source: https://energynews.oedigital.com/fossil-fuels/2025/05/14/indonesia-increases-cpo-export-levy-by-10-as-of-may-17 (ICE GIACARTA)
