Kazakhstan exceeds OPEC+ oil production quota by 297,000 b/d in April – S&PKazakhstan’s crude oil production in April 2025 reached 1.77 million barrels per day (bpd), according to an S&P Global Commodity Insights review citing Platts data.The country’s OPEC+ production quota for April was set at 1.473 million bpd, meaning Kazakhstan exceeded its limit by 297,000 bpd.In March, Kazakhstan produced 1.8 million bpd against a quota of 1.468 million bpd.The Kazakh Energy Ministry had previously acknowledged exceeding its OPEC+ quota in March but stated plans to comply in April by negotiating with oil producers to adjust output.“Kazakhstan failed to meet its target in March and exceeded its OPEC+ agreement obligations. (...) In April, we plan to fulfill our commitments and offset part of the overproduction,” the ministry told Interfax-Kazakhstan.The ministry reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the OPEC+ deal, stating that discussions with oil companies were ongoing to identify producers for potential output cuts.Last year, Kazakhstan extended its OPEC+ production cap of 2.2 million bpd through the first quarter of 2025. The Energy Ministry said the country intends to adhere to its allocated OPEC+ quota for 2025. (ICE ALMATY)
