VIỆT NAM’S AUTO MARKET GAINS MOMENTUM IN EARLY 2025
Vietnam’s auto market is rebounding in early 2025, with strong year-on-year growth and rising consumer confidence. April saw 29,585 vehicles sold by VAMA members—down 7% from March, but up 21% compared to April 2024. Passenger cars dominated, though sales dipped slightly month-on-month. From January to April, total vehicle sales rose 23%, led by imported vehicles (up 35%) and passenger cars (up 22%).Top-selling brands included Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, and THACO. The Mitsubishi Xpander and Ford Ranger were standout models. SUVs remained the preferred vehicle type, followed by MPVs and sedans. Hybrid vehicle sales surged 82% year-on-year, reflecting growing environmental awareness and government incentives.Despite positive trends, missing sales data from major players like VinFast and Hyundai leaves the full market picture incomplete. Still, analysts are optimistic, expecting further growth in Q2 and Q3 of 2025, driven by economic recovery, marketing efforts, and the expanding electric and hybrid vehicle segment.
