KAZAKHSTAN-TEST-POULTRY-BACTERIA

Kazakhstan reports no listeria in poultry, submits data for reviewKazakhstan has shared laboratory results with Russian regulators confirming the absence of listeria in poultry from a Kazakh producer, Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov said Monday. The findings follow Russia’s January detection of the bacteria, which triggered heightened inspections.“After Russia reported its findings, we formed a commission to investigate,” Saparov told reporters during a government briefing. “Comprehensive testing showed no trace of listeria. We’ve submitted the data to Rosselkhoznadzor [Russia’s agricultural watchdog]. They will review the findings, and we will share further results afterward. We hold weekly discussions on this matter.”Rosselkhoznadzor had imposed stricter controls on products from Kazakhstan’s Makinskaya Poultry Farm after identifying listeria in a January 29 inspection. The Kazakh Agriculture Ministry pledged follow-up audits and lab tests at the time. (ICE ALMATY)
