INDONESIAN MANUFACTURING SECTOR RANKS 1ST IN ASEAN
Indonesia’s manufacturing sector demonstrated strong performance in the first quarter of 2025, with the non-oil and gas industry growing 4.31% year-on-year. According to Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, the sector remains the largest contributor to the national GDP, increasing its share from 17.47% to 17.50% year-on-year and from 17.31% to 17.50% quarter-to-quarter. Export performance during January–March 2025 reached US$ 52.9 billion (IDR 872.95 trillion), while investment realization in the same period totaled Rp 179.70 trillion. These figures highlight a consistent growth trend since 2022, driven by rising investor confidence and robust domestic industrial activity. In addition, Indonesia’s Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) hit a record high in 2023 at nearly US$ 256 billion (IDR 4,224.51 trillion), based on World Bank and UN data. This achievement elevated Indonesia to 12th place globally in terms of MVA, 5th in Asia—behind China, India, Japan, and South Korea—and the top spot in Southeast Asia. Minister Agus emphasized that these accomplishments reflect Indonesia’s increasing competitiveness in the global manufacturing landscape, positioning the country as a major industrial player and an attractive destination for investment.Source: https://finance.detik.com/industri/d-7905994/kantongi-rp-179-t-sektor-manufaktur-ri-peringkat-1-di-asean (ICE GIACARTA)
