Kazakhstan has potential to become IT services exporter — EBRDKazakhstan possesses the necessary educational foundation and skilled workforce, creating prerequisites for entering the international IT services market, according to Beata Javorcik, Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)."In our report, we show that many post-communist countries have achieved significant success in exporting computer services. (...) Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, also have a strong educational base, which gives them the potential to develop in a similar direction," Javorcik said.She is confident that the field of computer and other professional services is one of the area where the region can actively grow.She added that Kazakhstan, like other resource-rich countries, seeks to diversify its economy, though this remains challenging amid rising protectionism and intense competition in global markets."Therefore, when developing a diversification strategy, it is crucial to carefully analyze sectors where the country can truly succeed. In Kazakhstan’s case, the government views agriculture as a promising growth area.
