KAZAKHSTAN-GRAIN-SUBSIDIES-EXPORT

Kazakh grain exporters seek transport cost compensations worth over 9 bln tengeKazakhstan’s grain exporters have failed applications for a total value of more than 9 billion tenge seeking compensation of their transportation costs, according to Aidarbek Khodjanazarov, a member of the Majilis, the lower house of parliament, and the Agrarian Committee."This week, the government has allocated the first 5 billion tenge to subsidize grain export transportation costs. This is the first step within a broader 40-billion-tenge assistance package previously announced by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The total amount of the applications for transport cost compensations exceeds 9 billion tenge, indicating strong demand for this measure among agricultural producers," Khodjanazarov said at a meeting of the Agrarian Committee. The subsidies will be applied to transportation costs both by rail and sea, according to him.To date, the first shipments of Kazakh soft wheat have already been sent to Norway and Morocco. Contracts have been signed for deliveries to the UK and Scotland, and negotiations are underway to expand exports to the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Sudan, according to Khodjanazarov. The government earlier allocated 40 billion tenge from its reserve to support the grain sector. The funds will be used to finance sowing operations, free up elevator storage for the 2025 harvest, enhance the competitiveness of Kazakh grain exports and explore new markets. From September 2024 to April 2025, Kazakhstan exported 6.9 million tonnes of grain or a 54% increase compared to the same period in 2023-2024.
