Inflation in Kazakhstan at 1.2% in April, annual inflation at 10.7%Inflation in Kazakhstan came in at 1.2% in April 2025 compared with 1.3% in March 2025, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms said.The annual inflation (April 2025 to April 2024) amounted to 10.7%.In April 2025, the prices for food products increased by 8.5% compared with the same month of 2024, the prices for non-food items grew by 8.9% and for services by 15.7%.In the reporting month, the tariffs on drinking water supply jumped by 89.1% year over year, water disposal services by 23.5%, central heating by 18.7%, garbage removal services by 16.2%, hot water supply by 14.4%, domestic gas supply by 13.3%, and electricity by 11.7%.All-inclusive recreation services by 70.1%, communications by 15.8%, housing rental grew by 15.3%, hairdressing and personal services by 15%, health care by 14.3%, vehicle maintenance and repair by 13.3%, catering by 12.7%,Rail fares rose by 24.7%, municipal bus by 11.1%, and air fares by 9.6%.Prices for jewelry and watches increased by 27.7%, new locally assembled cars by 27.1%, audiovisual equipment by 23.6%, clothing and footwear by 11%, furniture and household items by 10.3%.Liquefied gas in cylinders rose 23.6% in price, firewood by 14.6%.Prices rose for potato by 79%, onion by 63.8%, cabbage by 46.8%, vegetable oil by 20.8%, mineral and drinking water by 16.8%, confectionery by 13.5%, beef by 13.2%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 12.7%, nonalcoholic beverages by 12%, processed, butter by 11.4%, mutton, fish and seafoods by 11.1%, fruit and vegetable juices by 10.6%.Prices fell for buckwheat by 15.1%, rice by 6.9% and eggs by 5.6%.On a regional basis, inflation was above the national average in five regions, notably the city of Astana (13.8%), the Karaganda (12.8%) and Akmola (11.8%) regions.In 2024 inflation in Kazakhstan slowed down to 8.6% from 9.8% in 2023. It is the National Bank’s target to stabilize the inflation at around 5% in the midterm. (ICE ALMATY)
