Kazatomprom boosted uranium output 11% in Jan-March (Part 2)Kazakhstan-based National Atomic Company Kazatomprom (KAP) posted a 11% increase in uranium production in January-March 2025 to 5,633 tonnes, compared with the same period of the previous year, the company said in a press release.The production volume on an attributable basis, which corresponds only to the size of the company’s interest in other companies, grew by 9% year over year to make 2,963 tonnes.“Production on both a 100% basis and an attributable basis was higher in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, due to an increase in both the full year and the first quarter of 2025 production plan in line with the Company’s guidance and Subsoil Use Agreements’ requirements in 2025 compared to 2024,” the press release says.In the reporting period, the sales of uranium concentrate (U3O8) by Kazatomprom and its consolidated subsidiaries decreased by 7% year over year to 2,560 tonnes, and the average realized price of U3O8 fell by 13% to $54.7.“The variation in sales volumes at both the Group and KAP levels is due to the timing of customers’ request of scheduled deliveries. Sales volumes can vary substantially each quarter, and quarterly sales volumes vary year to year due to variable timing of customer delivery requests during the year, and physical delivery activity,” the company said.The uranium production guidance for 2025 was kept unchanged between 25,000 and 26,500 tonnes on a 100% basis and between 13,000 and 14,000 tonnes on an attributable basis.Group sales volume guidance remains at 17,500-18,500 tonnes of uranium, including the standalone guidance of 13,000-14,000 tonnes.National Atomic Company Kazatomprom JSC is the national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan for export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and dual-use materials. Kazatomprom is controlled by Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC (62.99%) and Ministry of Finance (12.01%), the remaining 25% are in free float. (ICE ALMATY)
