Kazakhstan aims to fully meet domestic demand for fertilizers by 2030Kazakhstan plans to fully supply its farmers with home-made fertilizers by 2030, Minister of Industry and Construction Yersaiyn Nagaspayev said."One of the key strategic objectives of the [agricultural] sector is to completely satisfy the needs of local farmers with major types of domestically produced fertilizers by 2030. Owing to upgrading and construction projects, the total output of fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) will increase to 4 million tonnes by 2030," Nagaspayev said at a Monday meeting of the government.There are also plans to launch the production of new types of fertilizers such as urea, potassium chloride and dicalcium phosphate.According to the existing plans, the production of ammonium phosphate will increase to 1.5 million tonnes, nitrate to 800,000 tonnes, ammonium sulfate to 70,000 tonnes, urea to 800,000 tonnes, potassium chloride to 700,000 tonnes and dicalcium phosphate to 300,000 tonnes. These fertilizers account for 80% of the country’s demand.Data from the Ministry of Industry and Construction shows that Kazakhstan ranks 10th globally in phosphate rock reserves and 4th in potassium reserves.
