The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) has announced the upcoming launch of a national e-commerce platform aimed at modernizing Ethiopia’s trade operations and enhancing regional integration.Speaking at a press briefing on the ministry’s nine-month performance, Trade Minister Kassahun Gofe (PhD) said the digital platform would help eliminate inefficiencies in the market value chain and improve the global competitiveness of Ethiopian products.The minister also reported that Ethiopia earned over USD 5 billion in export revenues during the past nine months - reaching more than 70% of its USD 7 billion annual target. He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a transparent, competitive business environment and highlighted efforts to revise trade policies in line with global standards.In a related development, Kassahun disclosed that enforcement actions had been taken against 250,000 individuals engaged in illegal trade following recent pre-inspection operations.
