ITALIAN OIL AND GAS GIANT TO ACCELERATE GAS PROJECT COMPLETION IN INDONESIA
The Indonesian government is accelerating strategic oil and gas projects to boost energy security and meet production targets. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, during a visit to East Kalimantan, urged Italian oil giant ENI to fast-track its project completion from 2029 to 2028. The project is expected to produce 1,500 mm of gas and 90,000 barrels of concentrate. ENI is also developing two major National Strategic Projects: Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) with 2.67 TCF of gas reserves, and Geng North with 5.3 TCF, involving investments of US$3.7 billion and US$11.4 billion respectively. The Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) plays a key role in linking offshore production to domestic processing and export infrastructure. In addition to launching new projects, the government is optimizing idle wells to maintain and increase gas lifting. Bahlil noted improvements in production from old wells managed by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, with output rising to 400–500 mmscfd. A major focus is simplifying the licensing process, which contractors often cite as a major bottleneck. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is coordinating with regional governments to streamline local permitting and support efficient project execution across the sector.Source:https://finance.detik.com/energi/d-7897035/bahlil-minta-raksasa-migas-italia-percepat-proyek-gas-beres-2028 (ICE GIACARTA)
