INDONESIAN PALM OIL SECTOR BOOKS US$916 MILLION INVESTMENT

Indonesia, the largest palm oil producer, attracted US$916 million in investment in Q1 2025 to boost its palm oil processing capabilities, focusing on high-value product exports. Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani reported that palm oil processing investments reached approximately IDR 15.26 trillion, significantly lower than the IDR 47.82 trillion for nickel processing. Palm oil was the top choice for investors in Indonesia's plantation sector, followed by log wood and rubber, with Malaysia contributing about $400 million to the downstream industry. Despite a decline in palm oil exports to 2.2 million tons in 2024, Indonesia and Malaysia together account for around 85% of the global palm oil supply.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesian-palm-oil-sector-books-916-million-investment-to-move-up-value-chain (ICE GIACARTA)
