ETHIOPIA: BOEING OPENS AFRICA OFFICE IN ADDIS ABABA

Global aerospace leader Boeing has officially launched its new Africa office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, marking a step in its long-term strategy to support the continent’s aviation growth and economic transformation.The company projects that Africa will require over 1,200 new aircraft in the next 20 years to meet growing demand for connectivity and development. Boeing Africa Managing Director Ambassador Henok Teferra Shawl noted that this demand is fueled by increased investment, trade, and tourism.Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Dr. Alemu Sime, called the move a milestone for African aviation. “The establishment of Boeing’s Africa office in Addis Ababa is a major step toward realizing our shared vision of a connected, prosperous continent,” he said.Dr. Alemu highlighted Ethiopia’s 10 year development roadmap, which includes a planned USD 74 billion investment in infrastructure such as rail, ports, aviation, and smart logistics. He welcomed Boeing’s partnership in areas like aircraft parts manufacturing, technical training, and sustainable aviation fuels. (ICE ADDIS ABEBA)
