IMF TO AL MAMLAKA: COMPLEMENTARY FINANCING ARRANGEMENT WITH JORDAN TO BOOST ECON
Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), announced that a new financing arrangement is being developed between Jordan and the Fund. This initiative is designed to complement the existing program and bolster Jordan’s capacity to tackle key challenges, particularly in the areas of public health and climate change. In an exclusive interview with Al Mamlaka TV from Washington, Azour explained that the arrangement falls under the IMF’s Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), which supports long-term reforms aimed at strengthening economic resilience against future crises, such as pandemics and climate-related risks. A source familiar with the matter, speaking to Al Mamlaka on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the new arrangement could provide Jordan with access to additional financial support of no less than $700 million.
