CYPRUS AIRWAYS ADDS FOURTH A220 TO FLEET — CEO HIGHLIGHTS GREEN CREDENTIALS
Cyprus Airways on Wednesday announced the addition of a fourth Airbus A220-300 aircraft to its fleet. In its announcement, the company said the aircraft reflects its commitment to sustainable air travel, describing it as “a modern marvel that combines comfort, innovation, and environmental care”. The aircraft, officially unveiled today at Larnaca airport, will help the airline in its efforts to modernise its fleet while embracing eco-conscious practices. “As the flag carrier airline of Cyprus, we are deeply aware of our responsibility to both our people and our environment,” said Thanos Pascalis, CEO of Cyprus Airways. “This aircraft respects the island, consuming less, emitting less, and making less noise than other types, contributing to a greener, cleaner Cyprus,” he added. The A220-300 is widely regarded as one of the world’s most fuel-efficient commercial aircraft, offering up to 25 per cent lower carbon dioxide emissions compared to older models. It also drastically reduces noise pollution, making it a more suitable choice for environmentally sensitive areas such as island communities. Quieter aircraft can help minimise noise pollution around resorts, hotels, and beaches, enhancing the visitor experience and protecting the island’s reputation as a tourist destination. In addition to its sustainability credentials, the aircraft has been designed with passenger comfort in mind. Travellers can expect wider seats, more space, larger windows, and other onboard amenities, including USB ports. The airline stated that the aircraft delivers “whisper-silent flights” and a more tech-friendly environment. “This aircraft is designed for today’s traveller and tomorrow’s world,” the airline stated. “Whether you’re flying for business, holidays, or heading home, your journey just became more enjoyable – and more respectful to the land we all call home,” the announcement concluded.
