World Bank revises Kazakhstan's GDP growth forecast for 2025 down to 4.5%, raises 2026 outlook to 3.6%The World Bank (WB) has revised its GDP growth forecast for Kazakhstan, lowering the 2025 estimate to 4.5% while raising the 2026 projection to 3.6%, according to the April Global Economic Prospects report.In its January report, the WB had predicted Kazakhstan's economy to grow by 4.7% in 2025 and 3.5% in 2026. Thus, the bank has downgraded its 2025 forecast but improved the outlook for 2026.According to the WB, Kazakhstan’s GDP increased by 4.8%, which was a slowdown from the 5.1% growth recorded in 2023.On April 11, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that the country’s GDP grew by 5.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025.The National Bank of Kazakhstan projects economic growth in 2025-2026 at 4.2%-5.2%. Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in its April report, lowered the 2025 forecast for Kazakhstan to 4.9% (down from 5.1% in September 2024) while maintaining its 2026 estimate at 4.1%. The International Monetary Fund (IMF), in its April report, also downgraded Kazakhstan’s 2025 GDP growth forecast from 5.5% to 4.9% but raised the 2026 projection from 4.1% to 4.3%.As previously reported, Kazakhstan’s economy expanded by 4.8% in 2024 and 5.1% in 2023.
