IMF lowers Kazakhstan's 2025 GDP growth forecast to 4.9%The International Monetary Fund now forecasts 4.9% economic growth in Kazakhstan in 2025, according to the World Economic Outlook published on Tuesday.The IMF forecast Kazakhstan's GDP growth in 2025 at 5.5% in its previous, January review.The IMF improved its forecast for Kazakhstan's growth in 2026 to 4.3% from 4.1% in January.It estimates Kazakhstan's GDP grew 4.8% in 2024.The IMF estimates inflation in Kazakhstan was 8.7% in 2024 and will accelerate to 9.9% in 2025 before slowing to 9.4% in 2026.Kazakhstan's GDP grew 5.8% in January-March 2025, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said.The National Bank of Kazakhstan forecasts economic growth by 4.2%-5.2% in 2025-2026. The World Bank expects 4.7% growth this year and 3.5% in 2026. The Asian Development Bank in its April review worsened its forecast for Kazakhstan in 2025 to 4.9% from 5.1% in September, and kept its forecast of 4.1% for 2026 unchanged.Inflation in Kazakhstan slowed to 8.6% in 2024 from 9.8% in 2023. The National Bank expects inflation of 10%-12% in 2025 and aims to bring it down to around 5% in the medium term. (ICE ALMATY)
