INDONESIA EYES 7.1% EXPORT GROWTH AMID U.S.-CHINA TRADE TENSIONS

The Indonesian government remains optimistic about achieving its 2025 export target of US$294.45 billion, despite challenges from the ongoing U.S.-China trade tensions and a 10 percent U.S. tariff hike on Indonesian imports. Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono, Director General of International Trade Negotiation at the Trade Ministry, emphasized that both the government and business sector are committed to reaching the 7.1 percent export growth goal without revising their plans. He highlighted that new trade agreements, including the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA), are expected to boost market access and support export performance. Trade Minister Budi Santoso underscored that the export target builds upon last year’s performance of US$241.25 billion and aligns with the broader ambition of achieving 8 percent national economic growth by 2029. The ministry also plans to strengthen support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to help meet the 2025 export objectives.Source: https://lestari.kompas.com/read/2025/04/22/070000286/investasi-ccs-yang-masuk-indonesia-capai-rp-640-79-triliun#google_vignette (ICE GIACARTA)
