There are many industrial enterprises around the regional center. Strict control over their compliance with all environmental standards is necessary. The issue of reclaiming the Koshkar-Ata tailings storage facility, which holds 105 million tonnes of waste from three plants of the Caspian Mining and Metallurgical Complex, has remained unresolved for a long time," Tokayev said.Additionally, according to the head of state, over 200,000 tonnes of solid household waste are stored at the region’s landfills, and there are also unauthorized dumpsites. The region has 68 illegal dumps, 60 of which have been eliminated, while 8 remain on private entrepreneurs’ territories."All these problems negatively impact people’s quality of life. The government, together with the regional akimat, must take comprehensive measures to resolve them urgently. As part of the Clean Kazakhstan initiative, work on improving settlements must continue.
