Tokayev criticizes government over delayed construction of GPP in ZhanaozenKazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev described the delayed construction of a gas processing plant (GPP) in Zhanaozen as a major oversight by the government.“Previously, I instructed that the Zhanaozen gas processing plant be launched by 2024. However, due to delayed procedures, the contract with the contractor was only signed last year, and its commissioning has now been postponed to 2027. This is a significant failure on the part of the government,” Tokayev is quoted as saying by the presidential press service.Earlier reports noted that the Kazakh president had ordered the completion of the Zhanaozen GPP construction projects, calling the progress “unsatisfactory”.Construction of the Zhanaozen GPP began in November 2023, with full completion of the plant’s two initial phases planned for early 2027.
