FIRMS PREPARE SEC HOUSING FACILITY BIDS

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is expected to receive bids from firms on 27 April for a contract to develop housing facilities in Riyadh. The tender notice was issued in Q1 of this year. The scope covers the construction of two-storey steel modular residential buildings with 36 units each at Riyadh Power Plant 12 (PP12) and Riyadh Power Plant 13 (PP13), as well as modular buildings for a guard house, pump room and mosque. The expansion works on PP12 started recently when SEC awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to China-headquartered Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 3 Company (Sepco 3) and South Korea’s Doosan Enerbility.  In November last year  the team would undertake the expansion of PP12. The expansion project comprises a greenfield combined-cycle gas turbine power generation plant with a capacity of 1,800MW.  The construction works on PP13 were completed in 2022. GlobalData expects the kingdom’s construction industry to record an annual average growth rate of 5.2% in 2025-28, supported by investments in transport, electricity, housing and tourism infrastructure projects, as well as the $850bn-plus gigaprojects programme. The future of modular construction in Saudi Arabia appears promising. As the construction market expands, the demand for efficient and sustainable building solutions is expected to rise. The global construction industry is predicted to grow at a rate of 3.9% from 2024 to 2027, reaching $14bn by 2027. This trend is mirrored in the Middle East, where modular construction is seen as a viable solution to address the challenges of rapid urbanisation and infrastructure development.   Contact of  Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) Email: AlkahrabaCare@se.com.sa https://www.se.com.sa/     (ICE RIYADH)
