ETHIOPIA EARNS OVER USD 2.1 BILLION FROM GOLD IN NINE MONTHS
The Ministry of Mines has announced that Ethiopia has generated over USD 2.1 billion in foreign exchange from gold mining over the past nine months.This announcement was made during a high-level discussion forum attended by leaders and staff of the ministry, along with representatives from relevant institutions. The forum focused on reviewing the national achievements of the mining sector during the current fiscal year.A total of 26 tons of gold were delivered to the National Bank of Ethiopia within the nine-month period. The resulting foreign exchange earnings are seen as a major contribution to the country’s economic performance.In addition to the gold sector, the Ministry highlighted progress across several other mining projects. Multiple ventures, ncluding gold, coal, and cement production facilities, have reportedly been completed and are now operational.The Ministry emphasized its commitment to expanding productivity and attracting further investment to enhance the mining sector’s role in national development.
