KAZAKHSTAN-HIDE-EXPORT-DUTY
Kazakhstan to lift export duties on animal hides, wool for 3 yearsKazakhstan will eliminate export duties on raw animal hides and wool for three years, the Agriculture Ministry announced Wednesday. The decision to lift the duties was made April 16 by the Interagency Commission on Trade Policy."The main reason for this decision is weak domestic demand for a significant portion of raw materials produced. Processing and exports of livestock hides and wool remain at low levels," the ministry said in a statement. The abolishment of the export duties on animal hides and wool will reduce disposal costs for animal producers, help develop cattle and sheep production and sale chains, reach new markets and create additional competitive advantages for the domestic producers and exporters of agricultural raw materials.Current duties of €200 per tonne on cattle and sheep hides and 10% (minimum €50 per tonne) on wool will be suspended starting later this month.
