INDONESIA EYES EU MARKET FOR GREEN ENERGY AMID GLOBAL TRADE WAR
Indonesia is positioning itself to leverage its green energy resources—particularly wind, solar, and hydropower—to enter the European market amid the ongoing U.S.-China tariff war. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia highlighted Indonesia’s comparative advantage in renewable energy at the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit & Exhibition 2025, emphasizing the country’s potential to generate up to 3.6 terawatts of hydropower. If fully developed, this could create around 300,000 jobs and bring in as much as US$70 billion in foreign exchange. Lahadalia framed the recent trade tensions, including the 32% tariff imposed by the U.S. on Indonesian goods, as a strategic part of global trade rather than a crisis. He called for respectful political and economic dialogue, stressing the importance of mutual respect among nations. While several ASEAN countries were hit with high tariffs, Indonesia was granted a 90-day implementation pause, giving it time to strengthen alternative trade partnerships, particularly in green energy.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/351893/indonesia-eyes-eu-market-for-green-energy-amid-global-trade-war (ICE GIACARTA)
