The government's share was limited to income collected through official receipts.Tourist destinations like Hawassa, Langano, Sodere, and Wondogenet, popular since the era of Emperor Haile Selassie I, remain key attractions. Abebe also highlighted a growing number of tourists coming for sports tourism, conferences, exhibitions, and entertainment, with diplomats frequently spending weekends in the state.Efforts are underway to expand tourism destinations and encourage longer stays. A major corridor development project in Hawassa is expected to enhance the city’s beauty while expanding its entertainment and sports infrastructure. Abebe stressed that this project is a major step toward revitalizing tourism, generating employment, and boosting income for both the state and the country. (ICE ADDIS ABEBA)
