The Director General of the National Electric Power Company, Dr. Sufyan Batayneh, announced on Tuesday that Phase II of the Jordan-Iraq Electricity Interconnection Project is nearing completion. In a press statement, he said the phase—designed to supply the Al-Qaim region in Iraq with 400-kilovolt electricity—is expected to be finalized by the end of August 2025. Dr. Batayneh noted that despite various challenges encountered during the project, they have been successfully addressed. Upon completion, the interconnection is anticipated to deliver approximately 150 to 200 megawatts of electricity to the Iraqi side. (ICE AMMAN)
