EU INTERESTED IN FUNDING INDONESIAN PALM OIL-COFFEE DOWNSTREAM PROJECT
Indonesia's Minister of Cooperatives, Budi Arie Setiadi, recently met with EU Ambassador to Indonesia Denis Chaibi to discuss potential cooperation projects eligible for European Union funding. A key focus was the downstreaming of palm oil, given the high demand for this commodity in the EU. Budi emphasized the importance of enhancing traceability and sustainability in palm oil production and highlighted other sustainable commodities with funding potential, including wood, rubber, chocolate, and coffee. Budi noted that as a strategic partner, the EU supports Indonesia's cooperative development by sharing best practices and funding opportunities, which could help local cooperatives access the European market. This initiative also aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's national program—the Red and White Village Cooperative (KopDes)—aimed at strengthening the rural economy and supporting Indonesia's long-term vision for 2045.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20250415/12/1869395/menkop-budi-uni-eropa-minat-danai-proyek-hilirasi-sawit-kopi-ri (ICE GIACARTA)
