Eurasian Development Bank to invest over $1 billion in Kazakhstan's infrastructure and renewable energy in 2025The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is considering projects worth over 4.5 billion tenge in Kazakhstan this year, with more than 1 billion tenge allocated for infrastructure modernization, energy facility upgrades, and renewable energy development, according to a Tuesday statement from the presidential press service.During discussions with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, EDB Chairman Nikolai Podguzov presented the bank's 2024 results and strategic outlook, noting that the EDB invested $1.4 billion in Kazakhstan's economy in 2024. Kazakh projects now account for 60% of the bank's total portfolio."For 2025, the EDB is evaluating projects worth over 4.5 billion. More than 1 billion will target infrastructure and energy upgrades, renewable energy development, and transportation logistics - including reconstruction of national highways - along with industrial and digital technology initiatives," according to the press release.Podguzov reaffirmed the EDB's commitment to "enhancing Kazakhstan's financial market development and fostering investment through strategic partnerships with international organizations and key stakeholders."The EDB, an international financial institution with $7 billion in authorized capital, is jointly owned by six member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
