INDONESIAN GOVT AIMS TO INCREASE INSTALLED GEOTHERMAL CAPACITY BY 5.2 GW

Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to increase the country’s geothermal power plant capacity by 5.2 GW over the next 10 years, as outlined in the upcoming 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL). According to Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of Renewable Energy, Indonesia currently has 2.68 GW of installed geothermal capacity and aims to add 1.1 GW within five years to surpass the United States, which currently leads with 3.6 GW. The country’s total geothermal potential is estimated at 23.74 GW, spread across 368 locations. Minister Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized the government's commitment to finalizing the RUPTL this month, aiming to balance carbon emission reduction with the utilization of domestic energy resources, especially renewables. He specifically highlighted the 40 MW geothermal potential in Ambon, Maluku, which has been included in the new RUPTL draft as part of broader efforts to optimize Indonesia’s natural energy assets.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/351665/govt-aims-to-increase-installed-geothermal-capacity-by-52-gw?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_home (ICE GIACARTA)
