KTZ boosted cargo transportation in Jan-March by 4.4%Kazakhstan’s national railway operator, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), transported 64.2 million tonnes of cargo in the 1st quarter of this year or an increase of 4.4% year over year, the company's press service said in a Monday press release."In January-March 2025, KTZ carried 64.2 million tonnes of cargo, or a rise of 4.4% compared with the same period of the previous year. This includes 41 million tonnes transported within the republic. Exports by rail grew by 12% to 23.2 million tonnes," the press release says.In the reporting period, rail transportation of coal increased by 1.4% to 26.72 million tonnes, of which 7.5 million tonnes was exported.Grain transportation by rail rose by 48.7% to reach 3.6 million tonnes, and grain exports by rail grew by 52% to 2.8 million tonnes.Transportation of oil products increased by 3.4% to 5 million tonnes, ferrous metals by 11.4% to 1.1 million tonnes, chemical fertilizers by 19.6% to 1.2 million tonnes and construction materials by 4.6% to 2.8 million tonnes.Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is a transport, warehousing and distribution company, which is part of Kazakhstan’s National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna.
