Kazakhstan begins modernization of 125 railway stationsKazakhstan has launched a comprehensive modernization program for 125 railway stations across all regions of the country, the Ministry of Transport reported Monday.Work began on April 14, 2025, to upgrade station buildings, adjacent territories, and engineering systems. The project will be implemented nationwide with varying numbers of stations in each region.In the East Kazakhstan region, 5 stations will be renovated. The Akmola rRegion will see 16 stations upgraded, while the Atyrau region will have 9 stations modernized. The Almaty region and the Aktobe region will renovate 5 and 7 stations, respectively. The Abai region will modernize 10 stations, the Zhetysu region 8, the West Kazakhstan region 4, and the Karaganda region 11 stations.The upgrades are expected to increase station capacity and introduce modern waiting areas, high-speed internet, information systems, and additional passenger services.
