Kazakhstan’s GDP growth in Jan-March reaches 5.8% – TokayevKazakhstan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 5.8% in January-March 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced.“The GDP growth for January-March stands at 5.8%. This is undoubtedly a very strong indicator, especially during such challenging times,” Tokayev said during a meeting with the public in Shymkent.He emphasized that growth was driven by sectors such as transport, construction, industry, and trade.“This is a truly significant achievement. In the event of a worsening global crisis, we can utilize funds from the National Fund and our gold and foreign exchange reserves. I am confident that domestic entrepreneurs will demonstrate exceptional initiative and responsibility under current conditions, as they are capable of working tirelessly despite any difficulties,” the head of state added.Tokayev noted that the government must proactively address all key challenges and act efficiently and decisively.Kazakhstan’s first-quarter GDP growth aligns with forecasts by analysts surveyed by Interfax-Kazakhstan. They had projected economic growth in the range of 5-6%. The most accurate forecast came from Bakbergen Toktassin, a macroeconomic expert at BCC Invest’s Analytics and Research Department, who predicted 5.5-6%.As previously reported, Kazakhstan’s GDP growth for January-February 2025 was 5.4%. The National Bank forecasts economic growth of 4.2-5.2% for 2025-2026, while the World Bank projects 4.7% for this year and 3.5% for 2026. The Asian Development Bank (ADB), in its April review, revised its 2025 forecast for Kazakhstan downward to 4.9% (from 5.1% in September 2024) and maintained its 2026 forecast at 4.1%. (ICE ALMATY)
