Too early to diagnose turning point in inflation acceleration – National Bank headWhile early signs of disinflation are emerging, it is too soon to say that there is a reversal in the upward trend of inflation based on just one month's data, the National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov told a Thursday briefing."We have implemented a series of monetary and macroprudential policy measures, and we expect these steps to have a disinflationary effect over time. Initial signs include a slowdown in monthly inflation and stabilization in its monetary part," Suleimenov told reporters."However, it's certainly premature to speak about a turning point in the inflation trend after just one month, for the risks still remain tilted toward higher inflation," the chief banker said.On April 11, 2025 the National Bank made a decision to maintain the base rate at 16.5%.Kazakhstan's inflation came in at 1.3% in March this year compared with 1.5% in February, while the annual inflation in March increased to a two-digit figure of 10% from 9.4% in February 2025.
