Kazakh-Chinese JV to build sorting hub, industrial park in Almaty regionKazakh-Chinese Joint Venture Qazpost-YTO LLP will begin in 2025 the construction of a sorting hub in the Almaty region, the press service of Kazakhstan’s president said in a statement.On Thursday, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Yu Huijiao, the chairman of China’s YTO Express Group. The president was informed about the operations of Qazpost-YTO, a joint venture established by Kazakhstan’s national postal operator Kazpost JSC and China’s YTO Express."The project aims to develop a modern and efficient courier delivery network across Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Construction of a sorting hub in the Almaty region is slated to start this year. The project will reduce delivery times for postal shipments. Additionally, Qazpost-YTO intends to create an industrial park near the hub," the statement says.Following the meeting, Tokayev stressed the strategic importance of such joint initiatives, calling them "a model for effective cooperation between the state and international business."YTO Express Group is a major Chinese private logistics company founded in May 2000 and headquartered in Shanghai. The company provides courier services in the largest cities of mainland China, as well as in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.Kazpost, part of Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna, is Kazakhstan’s national provider of postal services.
