FDI INFLOWS TO JORDAN REACH $1.637 BILLION IN 2024, DRIVEN BY ARAB, GULF INVESTM
Preliminary balance of payments data showed that net foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into Jordan reached approximately $1.637 billion in 2024, representing 3.1% of the country’s GDP.Arab countries accounted for 64.8% of total FDI inflows, with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states contributing 32.5%. Among them are Kuwait, which topped the list with 9.1% of total inflows, followed by Saudi Arabia at 8.2%, the UAE at 7.1%, and Qatar at 4.5%.European countries contributed 21.4% of total FDI, led by the United Kingdom at 8.3%, and EU countries at 7.1%, with France ranking highest at 3.8%.Asian non-Arab countries contributed 5.2%, with India at 2.6%, and China at 2.4%.Other countries contributed 8.7% of the total FDI inflow in 2024.By economic sector, financial and insurance activities attracted the largest FDI share (23.4%), followed by information and communications (10%), mining and quarrying (9.1%), transport and storage (8.4%), wholesale/retail trade (7.7%), and manufacturing (7.6%).Additionally, non-Jordanian individuals’ investments in real estate and land accounted for 19.1% of total FDI inflows in 2024.
