Kazakhstan, UK discuss energy and water cooperation in Central AsiaKazakhstan's Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov met with UK Ambassador Kathy Leach on Monday to discuss bilateral cooperation on water and energy programs in Central Asia, the Energy Ministry said in a Monday press release."The parties stressed the importance of regional cooperation in water-energy programs to ensure sustainable development in Central Asia," the press release says.The talks focused on energy infrastructure development and sustainable energy transition in light of global climate goals. Special attention was given to reliable energy supplies and regional cooperation.Ambassador Leach commended Kazakhstan's efforts to decarbonize its oil and gas sector and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. She specifically noted Kazakhstan's participation in the Global Methane Pledge and the Hydrogen Breakthrough Agenda.Akkenzhenov stressed the importance of international partnerships in tackling global energy challenges. He highlighted renewable and hydrogen energy development as key components in diversifying Kazakhstan's energy mix.The Hydrogen Breakthrough Agenda, launched in 2021, aims to accelerate the global transition to hydrogen-based energy solutions.
