QATAR REAFFIRMS ITS STRONG, ONGOING COMMITMENT TO MATERNAL, NEWBORN HEALTH

On the occasion of the World Health Day, Qatar has reaffirmed its strong and ongoing commitment to advancing maternal and newborn health.In a statement on the occasion,Minister of Public Health HEMansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, said: “On the occasion of World Health Day, we reaffirm our strong and ongoing commitment to advancing maternal and newborn health, as part of our broader efforts to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for both present and future generations.”The minister said: "In the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, we remain committed to delivering the highest quality healthcare services to all members of society, with a special focus on supporting the health and wellbeing of mothers and newborns."He added, "On the occasion of World Health Day, we reaffirm our strong and ongoing commitment to advancing maternal and newborn health, as part of our broader efforts to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for both present and future generations. Maternal and newborn health is a key pillar within the National Health Strategy 2024-2030."Key initiatives such as 'Reproductive Health' and 'Healthy Children and Adolescents' are being advanced through focused efforts to deliver high-quality care for mothers, newborns, children, and adolescents, the minister said."These efforts reflect the highest standards of care, with a clear focus on excellence across community, primary, secondary, and specialised services, all supported by a fully integrated healthcare system."World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year onApril 7, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization, as well as other related organizations. In 1948, the WHO held the First World Health Assembly.This year it will kick off a year-long campaign on maternal and newborn health. The campaign, titledHealthy beginnings, hopeful futures, will urge governments and the health community to ramp up efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths, and to prioritize women’s longer-term health and well-being.
