Kazakhstan proposes Central Asian Erasmus+ program for AI and biotech talentsKazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for the creation of an Erasmus+ for Central Asia program to train specialists in artificial intelligence, water management and biotechnology."Our countries actively collaborate in accordance with the Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and other initiatives. With over thirty foreign university branches now operating in Kazakhstan, we are advancing academic excellence. We are keen to expand grant and scholarship opportunities, many of which are already being implemented with European partners," Tokayev said on Friday at the Central Asia-European Union Summit in Samarkand, according to a press release published by the presidential press service.The proposed Central Asian Erasmus+ should focus on high-demand fields, including AI, water resources management and biotechnology, the president said.Tokayev also suggested establishing a Central Asia-European Union Innovation Campus within Astana Hub, Kazakhstan’s flagship innovation platform."Earlier this year, we formed an International AI Advisory Council under the president. Kazakhstan is already training 100,000 IT specialists, and we are developing Alem.AI, a cutting-edge hub for AI startups and research. Additionally, we’ve launched a venture fund to accelerate AI development," Tokayev said.The EU, through its Team Europe initiative, has been supporting Central Asia in digital transformation. “Kazakhstan is open to cooperation and is read to exchange the best practices. I propose creating a Central Asia-European Union Innovation Campus on the basis of the Astana Hub,” the Kazakh president said. (ICE ALMATY)
