KTZ boosted cargo transportation in Jan-Feb by 6.6%Kazakhstan’s national railway operator, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), transported 42.4 million tonnes of cargo in January-February 2025 or an increase of 6.6% year over year, the company's press service said in a Monday press release."In the first two months of 2025, KTZ carried 42.4 million tonnes of cargo, or a rise of 6.6% compared with the same period of the previous year," the press release says.In January-February of this year, cargo transportation by rail within Kazakhstan grew by 2% year over year to make 26.78 million tonnes, and exports by rail rose by 16% to reach over 15.6 million tonnes.In the reporting period, rail transportation of coal increased by 4.7% to 18.2 million tonnes, of which 13 million tonnes was delivered to domestic customers. Grain transportation rose by 42.5% to exceed 2.4 million tonnes, and grain exports by rail grew by 44.5% to 1.9 million tonnes.Transportation of oil products increased by 3% to 3.2 million tonnes, ferrous metals by 14.3% to 700,000 tonnes, chemical fertilizers by 16.5% to 816,000 tonnes, iron ore and manganese by 4% to 3.2 million tonnes, and construction materials by 7.9% to 1.6 million tonnes.Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is a transport, warehousing and distribution company, which is part of Kazakhstan’s National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna.
